Basically, a mid-range up to a luxury Halong Bay cruise will offer you a wide range of drink selection as beer, soft drinks, wine, cocktails, etc., no less than when you are on the mainland. Equal in the variety of drinks but the price will be higher from 2 to 3 times in compare to the normal price (Service fee and VAT tax are all included). You can pay in cash or credit card, USD and VND are both accepted but one note is that you don’t pay right at the moment you purchase the drink but only pay one final bill issued at the end of cruise trip, so you must remember what you have drank during 2 or 3 days of the journey and compare with what the cruise crew have charged you for.
If you want to bring your own drink on Halong Bay cruise, then prepare to pay surcharge fee for them. This regulation from cruise seems to be unreasonable for many tourists going on a cruise but is currently applied by most of the cruises running daily on Halong Bay.
